At Phoenix Heat Treating, quality isn’t just a checkpoint—it’s engineered into every layer of our process and powered by an advanced, fully digital technology stack. Since 2001, we’ve pioneered the use of sensor-based automation and logic control systems to bring precision, consistency, and traceability to every heat treat cycle. But our innovation didn’t stop there.

PHT-Vacuum Dept

In 2020, we transitioned to a completely paperless quality system through the rollout of our new ERP platform. In partnership with Bluestreak, this system now powers every operational and quality function across our shop floor. Every employee is equipped with an iPad to clock in and out of operations, track job progress, and document in-process quality steps.
Photography has long been an integral part of our quality system—dating back to the days of Polaroids. Today, technicians take high-resolution photos of parts in-process using their iPads. These images become part of the digital job record, providing essential traceability and visual confirmation of handling and setup.
Our digital infrastructure eliminates guesswork and prevents missed data entries, ensuring no critical information is overlooked. Each heat treat cycle is run using electronic recipes—no load is ever processed manually. Thanks to our partnership with Super Systems Inc. (SSI), we run all processes using advanced digital charting, control, and simulation tools. Carburizing recipes, for instance, are developed through simulation before a single part is ever loaded, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
Another key quality pillar is pyrometry—a vital requirement for aerospace and defense work. Phoenix Heat Treating performs all pyrometry in-house and manages the entire process paperlessly through C3 Data, our trusted partner in calibration and compliance management.
Our “Intelligent Heat Treating©” system brings it all together. Through real-time digital monitoring, we control and verify temperature profiles, ramp rates, soak times, and atmospheric conditions throughout every cycle. If your job calls for tight tolerances and certifiable traceability, we can guarantee that every parameter was met—or exceeded.
And when it’s time to run that job again, our systems ensure it’s done with the same repeatable precision.

On-Site Metallurgical Expertise & Quality Control

Quality starts with the right people—and we’re proud to have experienced metallurgists and trained lab technicians on-site. Our inspection department follows strict, documented procedures to verify compliance with industry certifications, customer specifications, and metallurgical targets like hardness, case depth, and microstructure.
First-time aerospace and defense jobs undergo an in-depth technical review prior to production. Every detail—from fixturing to furnace recipe—is validated by our metallurgical team. With full documentation, we can ensure your parts are not only processed right the first time, but the same way every time.

They establish the process that allows for excellence in the product we deliver.
Our process includes a tremendous amount of over site throughout the processing cycle. All aerospace and defense first time part numbers go through a detailed review before being released to production. All process parameters are reviewed by our metallurgist including fixturing and process. Our state-of-the-art ERP system allows for real-time tracking and data collection.
Data collection has become an invaluable tool. Our digital records extend back 20+ years. Job history helps to ensure consistency and digital photos during processing not only provide that history but also important documentation of your job’s time in our facility.
Our in-house lab can perform a variety of inspections; not limited to micro hardness and case depth. All processing requirements are reviewed by a quality engineer before a certification is generated.
